A smart suitcase easily runs 300 to 400 euros. GPS tracking, USB charging port, its own app, the whole package. Sounds like it solves every luggage problem. Whether that still holds up after a few months of ordinary use is a different question.

4 billion euros. 10 years of construction. And then you're standing there, just past ten in the morning, staring at a glass facade that shoots maybe 18 meters into the sky, surrounded by thousands of people all wearing the same expression — half amazement, half disbelief. That's Frankfurt...

A typical scenario at the check-in desk: a family of four lines up with just one suitcase and a couple of backpacks – two adults, two kids, ten days on Mallorca. The woman at the counter next to them looks over like they'd left half their luggage in the taxi. Her face says it all. *You cannot be...

7.4 kilograms. And still standing in front of the bed at 5:30 in the morning wondering what else could come out. That's everything packed for a five-day carry-on business trip to Munich: suit, laptop, charger, two dress shirts, toiletry bag. All packed into a trolley that looks like it was meant...

Two centimeters of overpacking, and the Ryanair hand luggage too big fee lands around €75. All it takes is a fully packed trolley, the usual boarding rush, and a sizer at the gate that shows zero mercy. It's a scenario that has played out for passengers across Europe throughout 2026.

A typical scenario: three days after the wedding, a newly married couple is standing at Frankfurt Airport. He, let's call him Jonas, with one backpack. She, Lena, with one backpack. That was it. For two weeks in Bali.

A cabin trolley at 7.2 kilograms is enough for fourteen days of classic Greek island hopping through Athens, Naxos, and Paros — beaches, old towns, restaurants included. Zero checked luggage. It sounds extreme until the checked-baggage math gets done, and then it looks like one of the smarter...

Munich Central Station, platform 11, just after 7 AM. I'm standing there with a 40-liter backpack on my shoulders, an Interrail Global Pass on my phone, and fourteen days of Europe ahead. Munich, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Berlin. Five cities, five countries, one bag.

10:15 PM, Düsseldorf Airport. Our three-year-old was lying face-down on a suitcase, screaming because he couldn't find his stuffed animal. The five-year-old asked if we were there yet. The flight to Cancún was boarding in 80 minutes.

Florence, month fourteen. Cobblestones in the old town, 28 degrees, and I'm dragging our medium suitcase behind me. One wheel wobbles. Not catastrophic, but I notice it immediately. That was the moment I knew this luggage set had peaked.

I was standing at the breakfast table, phone in hand, trying to book a cheap Lufthansa flight to Lisbon. Five years since I'd flown, my first flight after Corona, basically. 2021 was the last time, empty airport, mask mandate, terminals that felt half abandoned. I figured I could do this in my...

My buddy Dave from Austin texted me three days before his flight. "Dude, should I book a hotel near the airport? Reddit says people waited 7 hours in Lisbon."
