Wizz Air Baggage 2026: Every Size, Every Fee, and How to Avoid the Gate Trap

The thing most people miss: WIZZ Go does NOT include a cabin trolley. You get 20 kg of checked baggage and the small personal item under your seat. But no roller bag in the cabin. Sounds odd, right? If you want a trolley in the cabin while on WIZZ Go, you still need to add WIZZ Priority separately.

This is the only piece of Wizz Air baggage that's genuinely free. Every passenger can bring one regardless of fare tier. It goes under the seat in front of you.

According to the official Wizz Air baggage allowance, these dimensions include handles and wheels. Though the Kayak overview (updated January 2026) mentions that wheels up to 5 cm may be tolerated on top.

My honest advice? Don't bet on that tolerance. Whether you get waved through or not depends on the airport, the flight load, and honestly, probably the mood of whoever's checking bags that day. Buy a bag that fits 40x30x20 with wheels included and you won't have to worry.

A travel blogger at Frankfurtflyer.de documented how the price for the exact same 20 kg bag on the exact same flight jumped by over €70 between two browser sessions. His recommendation (and mine): take screenshots at every step of the booking process.

The 10 kg option is a hidden gem for weekend trips. If you're only going away for two or three days and don't need much space, you can save €5 to €20 compared to the 20 kg tier. A lot of people default to 20 kg without thinking about it.

Short version: it gets expensive. Fast.

Wizz Air uses physical metal sizing frames (called sizers) at the gate. Your carry-on has to fit inside. If it doesn't, it gets checked on the spot and you pay a gate fee.

Wizz Air offers a membership called WIZZ Discount Club. It costs €59.99 per year and gives you:

According to the official WIZZ Discount Club page, the breakeven point is roughly six flights per year. For regular Wizz Air flyers, it probably makes sense. For occasional travelers, not so much.

Here's my quick math: if you fly Wizz Air four times round-trip per year and check a bag each time, you save €40 on bags plus €80 on tickets. That's €120 in savings against a €60 annual fee. Worth it.

One or two flights a year? Skip it.

Not everything fits in a standard suitcase. Here are the main rules for special items:

Strollers and car seats: Free. You hand them over at the gate and get them back after landing. Electric strollers, though, are not accepted.

6. Check in online. Sounds obvious, but plenty of people forget and then face a €30 airport check-in charge. Online check-in is free.

7. Screenshot everything during booking. Wizz Air changes baggage prices dynamically between sessions. If you see a good price, book immediately and document every step.

The rules for contents follow standard EU flight regulations. A few things that keep coming up:

Liquids: Maximum 100 ml per container, all inside a transparent 1-litre bag. Some airports with newer CT scanners allow up to 2 litres, but don't count on it.
