The winter flight schedule 2026/2027 takes effect that day, as Baden-Airpark confirms, and runs until 27 March 2027. Sounds like industry paperwork. It mostly is. But part of it lands straight in your booking.
The term isn't a marketing label. It's an IATA-coordinated twice-yearly planning system where airlines rebuild their entire route network, the same way they did for the summer 2026 schedule, when 300,000 extra seats and new routes from Germany were added. Short haul, long haul, cargo. Slots too. So it isn't some reduced winter-only sub-schedule, it's how a full season gets built.
This time the outcome looks wildly different depending on which airport you fly from.
New routes in the winter flight schedule 2026/2027: Münster and Nuremberg gain
The most striking growth story belongs to a regional airport. Münster/Osnabrück Airport reports: Condor is stationing an Airbus A320 permanently at FMO from early November for the first time, with two weekly flights to Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Hurghada. That puts the Canaries back on the FMO map.
Nuremberg gains something too. From November 2026, easyJet flies from Nuremberg for the first time, with four seasonal routes to London Gatwick, London Luton, Manchester and Milan Malpensa. Nationwide the airline plans more than 9,000 flights to roughly 70 destinations from five German airports.
Honestly, after the headlines of the past few months I expected the opposite.
Cancelled connections: Ryanair clears out of Berlin
Because this is happening in parallel, right in the middle of the winter flight schedule 2026/2027. Ryanair is closing its seven-aircraft Berlin base on 24 October 2026, one day before the new schedule starts. Winter capacity at the airport drops by 50 percent. CEO Eddie Wilson points to rising German aviation taxes and airport fees as the reason.
Frankfurt-Hahn takes a hit as well. Ryanair's offer there shrinks from 26 destinations to 17, and weekly flights fall from 81 to 63. That continues a pattern Ryanair had already signalled with earlier route cuts.
One airport grows, another loses an entire base. Same season. That's what this winter looks like.

If your connection gets cancelled outright, EU passenger rights give you a choice between rerouting and a full refund. Depending on notice and distance, compensation of €250 to €600 can come on top. The second point, beyond the rerouting detour above, is subtler. When an airline launches a route or swaps in a different aircraft type, the permitted cabin dimensions or the number of free bags sometimes change with it. Condor will fly FMO with an A320 from November.
I'm not sure that happens with every swap, to be fair. But checking takes two minutes and a gate fee usually costs a lot more.
